Text messaging in the U.S. is slowly catching up to that in other countries around the world. The downside to this phenomenon is that people do not know when it is appropriate to text. The most obvious time you should not be texting is when you are driving. I tried this a couple of times and it is really hard to drive responsibly and text message at the same time, much harder than talking and driving.
There is now a solution for people who just cannot stop texting, it is called Jott. Jott is a service I just happened upon and it works great. You go to their site, sign up for an account, and enter your address book (this took the longest). You are then able to call their toll free number (866-JOTT-123) and use voice commands to send your text. It will also send your message to an e-mail address.
This service works great for heavy texters and the textually challenged. It also allows you to sinc up with WordPress (the platform most bloggers use), twitter, an eleven other social programs. There are other features, like reminders, that I haven't really gotten a chance to work with yet but they look promising. Best of all JOTT is FREE!!! (my favorite word). Just for reference, it took the text a minute and 15 seconds to be delivered. Not quite as fast as a text directly from your phone but definitely a lot safer.
