LED Bulbs Coming

We are finally going to start seeing some real commercials for LED light bulbs.  If you are unfamiliar with these bulbs they will probably be a little more expensive than what we see for CFL light bulbs but will use less energy for more light.  The biggest problems the manufacturer's have run into with the LED's  is making them simulate the kind of light that we get from the old style Edison bulbs, but it appears they have finally gotten the kinks worked out.

The advantages are numerous.  They use less energy, can last a lifetime (literally), and do not have the potential health hazards as the CFL bulbs.  They have already been marketed to businesses but this will be the first real push to move LED's to the consumer market.

  • CFL bulbs contain MERCURY ! ! !
I have been wondering how long it would take for the tide to turn against CFL's. If one breaks, the clean-up is nothing short of a HAZMAT task.
