When I was growing up the weekend after Thanksgiving was always set aside for getting a Christmas tree. As a family we would pile in the car drive, to a Christmas tree farm, and wander the isles of trees looking for one that was good enough. It always took forever and I have recently submitted the paper work to my state legislature to have this listed as cruel and unusual punishment.

Once I got married I thought I could finally get a fake tree and only have to set it up every year instead of going out, looking for a tree, and hauling it home. Unfortunately, my wife loves live Christmas trees. So, for the last three years we have gotten a live Christmas tree. This year was different than the other two. We were so busy we didn’t have time to go shopping for a tree so we waited until yesterday to buy one. Much to my joy the tree’s at the local Lowe’s had been dropped in price; to FIVE DOLLARS A TREE!! Now we weren’t able to get as large of a tree as we usually do but the one we purchased is in good shape and looks nothing like the Charlie Brown Christmas tree.  Next year, if I can’t sway my better half toward a fake tree, we will be purchasing our fire hazard, err, Christmas tree less than five days before Christmas.
