Mother’s day is just around the corner and I have been trying to think of what to get the women in my life (we are expecting our first in July so I am getting a head start on brownie points with my wife).   Older More mature mothers still appreciate the standard gifts and are many times resistant to new technology (like my mom and mother-in-law).  But there is a whole generation of new moms and techno grannies that may want something cool and new.

For this reason I am considering getting my wife a Flip camcorder.  This little camcorder can record up to sixty minutes and some even have HD capability.  The most cost effective of the brand are under $100.

The best feature is how easy it is to use and upload to a computer.  It has a little arm that flips out of the side to reveal a usb connection that plugs directly into your computer.

What makes this handy over other camcorders is that it is so small.   They run only 2.8 inches thick and 5.4 inches long.  So they fit easily into a purse and are always available for that random moment of cuteness (or that temper tantrum that you may want to hold over their head when they are older).   So if you have a techno savvy woman in your life the Flip camcorder may be the perfect Mother’s Day gift.
