The New Look

It has been a while since I updated the look of my site and it took a while to find a look that I felt was an improvement over previous layouts.  With every change comes questions so I thought I would make a quick run down of the features that are available.  

The first thing to know is that in order to make a comment you actually have to click on the title of a post.  This question has been posed a couple of times so I hope this does not become a problem long term.

At the top of the page are my links to static pages and the search bar.  Right now it is just the home and contact pages.  The contact page allows anyone to e-mail me.  I will be adding a couple of more pages soon that I think everyone will find useful. The search bar is a great way to find information on the site.  Just type in what you are looking for and posts with that information will pop up.

Going over the the sidebar on the right side of the page you see the sign up to subscribe to my blog.  This is an easy sign up for either a feed reader or to receive updates in your e-mail.  Either way you can make sure you do not miss anything that happens here at SavingFreak.

Just below the subscription links many people have noticed that I have ditched google ads and gone to just a few programs that I have recommended in the past.  ING Direct is an online bank that allows  you to get much higher interest rates than traditional banks.  Mypoints is a rewards program that I take advantage of regularly to get free gift cards.  Swagbucks is one of my favorite programs because you just search the internet (just like with Google) and they reward you with gift cards.  And Cashduck is another way to earn free gift cards with minimal extra effort.   These are four of my favorite programs.  If any other programs take their place you will be sure to see a link to that program in this group.

The newest and probably coolest addition to the site is the Popular, Recent, and Active posts widget.  This widget actually rates the posts on my site by popularity and gives you a snapshot of the most popular.  Now for the first few weeks it will be giving favoritism to the newer posts because they will be the first to take full advantage of the popularity rankings.  Over time it will be a pretty accurate snapshot of what people have enjoyed here at SavingFreak.com.

Below that are your common blog lists and I am looking at adding a few more down there like a blog roll.  I hope you enjoy the new layout and that it helps with your reading of my blog.  Happy Savings!!
