Wait!! Don’t Throw Away that Toothbrush

An old toothbrush is a very valuable tool. I have seen them used for all sorts of things. Mostly people use them for cleaning in hard to reach places. If you are worried about toothpaste gunk you can clean the old toothbrush out by putting it in the dishwasher. I would stay away from the high heat wash because it might melt. Here is a list of things you can do with an old toothbrush.

Cleaning

Sink and Faucets
Jewelry
Combs
Get gunk out of the sole of your shoe
Forks
Threads on a jar
Garlic Press
For spot washing clothing using bleach or other stain remover
Under your fingernails
Hard to reach areas in your car
Tile Grout
Corners on window sills
Spot cleaning carpet
Inside of bottles
Cheese Grater
Take the silk off of ears of corn
Waffle Iron (cleaning and oiling)
Wheel of a can opener

Odd Uses

Get it hot enough and bend it into a bracelet for your child (bristles out)
Eyebrow brush
Apply hair dye
Paint brush for kids

I am sure there are more. Is there another way you have used an old toothbrush?

  • I'll admit that I've never once thought about bending one into a bracelet. That's definitely a first.

  • I made some toothbrush bracelets in Junior high and wore them on most days. People were OBSESSED with them and would bug me all the time to ask where I got them, so much so that I even considered starting a business. (I think "teen angst" got the best of me, though.)

  • Or if you are Italian, you can use it as a nose hair comb.

  • I will use my old toothbrush to weigh down my trash bag so it doesn't blow away as I carry it to the trash can.
