As a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, I try to raise my children in the same Christian traditions that my parents raised me.

As the access to pornography and content with morals that do not match my own has become more prevalent, it has become more difficult to shield my young children from these messages.

Fortunately, several Christian streaming services can help you find quality family-friendly content, that you don’t have to continually screen for your kids.

PureFlix

PureFlix is one of the largest and oldest of the faith-based streaming platforms. They offer a wide range of free Christian streaming channels through their own productions, similar to what we see with Netflix and Amazon Prime video.

Pure Flix does a great job of helping you find content for your younger children with an entire category for children 1-10 years old.

  • Cost – $12.99 per month or $99 per year (7-day free trial)
  • Best Feature– Large library and exclusive content

Yippee.TV

Yippee.TV was created by TBN to be a streaming service geared toward children under 12 years old. It is often recognized as the best Christian streaming service for kids, featuring quality TV shows, bible stories, and movies, including Veggie Tales and Superbook..

Up Faith & Family has an excellent combination of programming for all ages. Their kids’ programming is adequate, and they have an extensive collection of Christian content for anyone who is a teenager to senior.

RightNow Media

faith based streaming services

RightNow Media is a streaming service for Christians that is ordered through their local church. The service has excellent sermons, church services, bible studies and bible study videos, and kids programming.

My whole family has been using RightNow Media through our church for several months, and it has been a superb resource for finding biblical learning that applies to trials and struggles in life and great programming for the kids.

  • Cost – Billed to churches based on size
  • Best Feature– Best for Biblical learning and robust kids programming

One interesting feature I noticed with the streaming service RightNow Media, was they connected our youth and childrens church services with content on the app. It wasn’t much but it was a nice touch.

The only downside is you have to get this through your church. Check with your church leaders to see if it is something that can be made available.

Dove Channel

The Dove Channel handpicks content and has a variety of faith-based programming, as well as programming from the past that is not Christian but is in line with Christian values.

You can find older television shows like the Andy Griffith Show and Bob Ross to round out more directly Christian options.

  • Cost – Free limited content or $4.99 per month for all premium content ad-free
  • Best Feature– Very affordable and a good mixture of values-based content.

Parables

Parables has a sizeable amount of Christian streaming content. Their target audience is older than many of the other faith-based streaming services since they have do not have as much of a focus on kids’ content.

What sets Parables apart is that you can watch the service for free with advertising. For subscribing, you get no ads and access to their live streaming services.

  • Cost – $5.99 per month or $57.99 per year
  • Best Feature– Free account with ads and a live streams

The Bible Project

I love The Bible Project and my kids enjoy the teaching they get through it.

The teaching is very high level but presented in such a way that anyone can understand what is being presented. It is also available across all platforms, even my android TV device accepted the app.

While my kids have spent hours on some of the series, this is not exactly an entertainement service. It will however, equip and educate your family while growing your Christian faith.

  • Cost – Free
  • Best Feature– Some of the best teaching you will find online. They have an app, youtube, and web version.

HisChannel

HisChannel takes a slightly different approach by providing shows that are recorded regularly instead of just on-demand content.

I really enjoyed some of the talk shows and receiving news updates relevant to a Christian audience is a nice feature.

While HisChannel does have on-demand video content like family-friendly movies, they also offer sermons from popular speakers like Charles Stanley, David Jeremiah, and many others.

  • Cost – Free
  • Best Feature – Excellent sermons from popular church leaders

Minno

I found Minno to be a great streaming platform for Christian families with smaller children.

They have over 150 shows and a good library of parently vlogs and children’s books that Christian parents will find very helpful in raising their kids.

  • Cost – $6.99/month
  • Best Feature – Good option for young children with good support for parents.

Answers in Genesis

Answers in Genesis if focused on equiping Christians with answers to the most common questions about Christianity.

The services is free but does ask for donations to support their ministry.

I found the content to be well done and the kids shows are great for someone looking for animated biblical stories.

With Ken Ham being a major contributor, Answers in Genesis is one of the most fundamentalist of the services on this list.

  • Cost – Free
  • Best Feature – Excellent animates Bible stories.

How to Choose a Faith-Based Streaming Service

When you are deciding on a streaming service, there are several factors you want to consider.

Cost

christian movie streaming services

Some of the services on this list might be cost-prohibitive. PureFlix has excellent content but is the most expensive of any Christian streaming service, and to some extent, you get what you pay for.

If Parables has all the content you need, and you can stand to watch the ads, then you can get that content for free.

Make sure you are subscribing to a service that fits inside your budget.

Programming

If the service doesn’t have all the content that fits your household, then it isn’t worth having.

I like what Parables offers, but there isn’t enough kid content to keep my entire family engaged. So even though it is free with ads, I don’t use it that much.

Need

We have lots of streaming options, and many have quality programming, even if it is not Christian or faith-based content.

I was mostly happy with our streaming service choices before finding several Christian options, but when our church added Right Now Media, I realized how much my kids were missing out.

Most of these paid services have at least a one week trial or starter plan, so try a few out to see if you were missing something from your family’s viewing options.

Technology

Most of these services are available across the major streaming platforms. However, you will want to make sure your streaming device is compatible before subscribing.

If you have an Apple TV or Roku you’re going to be fine, but some smart TV’s will not support all of these streaming platforms.

Most of these services will work in some way with your mobile device, as long as your mobile phone is and iPhone or Android.

I am trying to find a Christian streaming service like Sky Angel used to be. Which service would be the best, and price is not that important? I just want to find the variety of programs that Sky Angel had.
