Hi Rex,

I know how you feel. Giving any company my personal info is always unsettling. Unfortunately, for any type of active ID Theft protection you will have to give up that information.

If you don't need access to any additional credit (no new loans, credit cards, etc.), you can freeze your credit with each of the credit bureaus. There might be a small fee with each one, but it would prevent a thief from having any ability to use your credit and mostly make your identity worthless to them.

Thanks for a good overview of McAfee Identity Theft Protection. I received the free version from McAfee when I signed up for the antivirus plan. This may seem silly but I'm a little uncomfortable giving ANY company all of my essential financial information, credit cards, SSN, Passport, bank accounts and so on. How secure is the transmission of all this information to McAfee and how confident are we that McAfee can't be hacked? Is this type of comprehensive online disclosure standard practice in the Identity Theft protection world? Your experienced reflection would be helpful. Thanks again.
