I first heard of Plated when I saw them present their business on Shark Tank in 2014. This was the first I had heard of ready to cook meal kits and was immediately intrigued.

Not only did I do a quick review of Plated, but all of the different ready to cook meal kits.

With Plated, deciding on what you can eat for dinner should not be a problem anymore. Plated is an excellent meal kit delivery service that offers stress-free cooking at home.

How Does Plated Work?

Plated provides one of the broadest range or menus, and the recipes are ideal for even the most inexperienced cooks, and the ingredients used by Plated are natural and fresh.

Meal planning can be effortless with Plated. In just 5 minutes, you can select your menu and set your delivery date. All you have to do is sign up with Plated and fill in details of what you like eating and how often you want to cook.

Plated gives you the flexibility of personalized meal plans, and you can select the recipes you want week by week and in whatever combination you want, without any restrictions. The service offers a highly flexible subscription where you change your deliveries according to your requirements.

You have the freedom to skip weeks if you don’t want to order, you can swap the recipes according to what you’re in a mood to eat, and if you don’t want to get any meals, then you can even cancel anytime and order only whenever and whatever you want.

You don’t have to make any commitments on your order. You can temporarily pause, modify and even cancel your subscription. However, you must make all the changes before your delivery order is processed, i.e., by noon, six days before the delivery day.

Plated fits in with your schedule and lets you change the day of delivery for any week you want, and you can also cook from 2 times in a week to every night. You can opt for 2, 3 or 4 servings of the dishes and adjust according to the number of people who will be eating.

Once you place the order, you will receive all the ingredients in a carefully packed insulated box that will keep the ingredients fresh.

The boxes with your ingredients are hand packed and shipped via FedEx or the local courier, and they typically deliver between 8 am and 8 pm.

The insulated box will preserve the freshness of the ingredients up to midnight, even if you are not there to accept the delivery. Plated delivers to over 95% of the United States.

The ingredients are carefully pre-portioned, and you will receive the ingredients in just the right quantities required to prepare the recipes you select and the number of servings you need. The ingredients come along with a recipe card in each box with step-by-step instructions that will allow you to prepare delicious and impressive dinners. The recipes can also be viewed and downloaded via your account to your desktop or app on every delivery day.

The nutritional information and breakdown of all the ingredients are included with every recipe and also mentions 8 of the allergens recognized by the FDA.

A customer support team is available to help you whenever you need it, right from tips on how to halve a pepper properly to cooking steps for a particular recipe.

Types of Meals Available

Plated offers 20 original delicious new recipes curated by the chef every week that you can choose from and also offers two desserts, which are optional.

The recipes are straightforward to make and suitable for all levels of cooks. You have a range of recipes from quick prep ones that are prepared in 20 minutes to full-fledged ones that will take under an hour.

The recipes offered are customized according to your dietary preferences, and you have the option of choosing between:

  • Omnivores
  • Vegetarians
  • Seafood lovers
  • Dessert seekers

Plated uses only high-quality ingredients for all the meals that are responsibly and sustainably sourced.

The poultry and pork are raised responsibly without antibiotics, and the beef does not contain any added hormones, the seafood and fish are sustainably caught and Plated partners with trusted fisheries that follow sustainable fishing practices.

The produce is fresh and seasonal and is higher in quality compared to what you will find in most of the grocery stores. Wherever possible, Plated supplements the premium top-quality produce with organic ingredients and the ingredients also contain small batch, hand-crafted artisanal ingredients, and specialty items.

Plated, however, does not cater to allergies and dietary restrictions and the ingredients are processed in facilities that also processes eggs, fish, milk, shellfish, peanuts, tree nuts, gluten, soy and sulfites and so, Plated recommends that you use your discretion when placing an order. However, you can modify the recipes easily by eliminating the ingredients you wish to avoid.
