I have been using Entertainment Book coupons for over a decade now.  entertainment book coupons and app review 4It is one of the top selling coupon books across the nation.

What I have found most interesting about this company is how they have evolved over the years and really brought a great product to the table.  What is even better is that they are an international company so as long as you live in a somewhat dense population area they are going to

How It Works

The concept is pretty simple.  You purchase a book with a coupons in it.  Use the coupons at retailers, restaurants, entertainment, and other services in your local area.  The coupons are specialized by area and typically have restrictions on the about which locations are available.  For example, do not expect to be able to use the coupons in an St. Louis Entertainment Book in Chicago. They aren’t going to be accepted.

In recent years the company has also added an app and an online presence.  This gives you additional options to save and more chances to save money, outside of the standard, old school coupon book.

Entertainment Book Coupons

entertainment book couponsSo when I refer to Entertainment Book coupons what I mean is the coupons that you actually tear out of the book.  These coupons have been the bread and butter of the publication for over 50 years.

The way they work is that the Entertainment company goes to major chains in your area and get them to advertise in the book by offering a coupon.  You purchase the book and visit those local locations that accept the coupon.

The coupons themselves are usually some sort of buy one get one free or a percentage off.  The most frequent ones are BOGO and, since there are now five people in my family, BOGO goes a long way.

There are several different categories of Entertainment Book coupons. They Include:

  • National Restaurants
  • Local Chain Restaurants
  • Travel
  • Shopping
  • Activities/Entertainment

Each of these categories will have a bunch of different coupon options.  The travel coupons usually include hotels and rental cars.  The others are pretty self explanatory and will vary greatly depending on what is available in your local area.

Entertainment Book App

With smartphones taking over just about everything, it was only a matter of time before they released an Entertainment Book App.  The app is a really nice addition to the traditional coupons.

The app logs in to your personal online Entertainment.com account and shows coupons that are relevant to your local area.  What is really nice is that many of the traditional paper coupons are duplicated on the app.  So you basically get two coupons for the price of one.
On top of duplicating coupons, the Entertainment Book App gives you additional digital only coupons.  It will also provide featured coupons from time to time that are a VERY good discount.

Entertainment Book Card and Prints

The Entertainment Book Card works just like the app but it gives those of us who are smartphone deficient a means of accessing the digital coupons.  Instead of having them scan your app you apply the digital coupon to your card and then redeem using the card.

On top of having the card you can also print out many of the digital coupons and take that coupon with you.

It is another great way to take advantage of the different digital coupons available outside of what is in the book

Entertainment Book Complaints

Any good review has to include the most common complaints.  While I have personally had very few problems using Entertainment Book coupons, the largest complaint is when someone’s coupon gets rejected.

The time this happens the most is when someone does not actually read the coupon.  This was the case when I tried use a coupon at my local Little Caesars.  They were not listed on the coupon and the owner of this particular franchise is a BIG stickler for not accepting any coupons but their own (which is none).

From then on I learned my lesson and always read the print on the coupon.  Each franchise owner has to approve so if you are going to any chain of stores that is franchised, be very careful that your local store is actually included on the coupon.

Price and Best Time to Buy

It used to be you always had to purchase the physical Entertainment Book in order to get coupons.  Fortunately, the company got smart and let people start just purchasing the digital version.

I personally like getting the physical book which comes with the digital version packaged together.  This version of the coupons is regularly $35 and they are good till the end of the calendar year.

The digital only version is regularly $19.99 for the year or $1.99 per month.  This does give you less coupons and, of course, the lack of shipping and printing make it more affordable for the company to provide them to you.

Now, those are the standard everyday prices, and if you have been reading this site for any length of time you know that I almost NEVER pay the standard everyday prices.  The best way to get the Entertainment book coupons and app is to not get them when they first come out (sometime around December for the upcoming year).

I will typically wait until February to March range to see the biggest discounts on the physical books.  The discount should be somewhere around 50% off when you buy them.

If you are looking later in the year there is a good chance the physical books will be sold out, but you can purchase the digital only version for 50% off many times throughout the year.

So you should be looking for a price somewhere around $17.50 for the physical book and $10 for the digital only version.

Is it Worth It?

I am a big fan of coupon books.  They have saved my family tons of money over the years and getting the larger Entertainment Book coupons can really add up fast.

The most truthful answer to the question, “Is the Entertainment Book worth it?” is “It Depends.”  I know I know you hate that answer, but bear with me. The real reason for that answer is that you have to use the coupons in order to make the purchase of the Entertainment Book worth it.

So if you make a real effort to use the coupon you can save hundreds of dollars and do a lot of fun things by purchasing a book.  If you buy the book, throw it in the glove compartment, and then forget about it, then it isn’t worth.

Overall the Entertainment book coupons are a good buy and will typically pay for themselves when you use one to two of the coupons.
