Quick Navigation
How Does Pet Plate Work?
Pet Plate is a subscription-based dog food delivery service. You need to provide specific details about your pet, such as breed, the year he/she was born, and your dog’s current weight (a rough estimate in pounds will do).
Next, you select the meal(s) you want for your dog (more details about the meals later on), the plan, and frequency of delivery. After this, you proceed to the checkout, where you enter the shipping information, payment information, and place the order.
You will get a 35% discount on the first box. And, if your dog doesn’t like the food for some reason, then Pet Plate will give you a full refund.
They ship the meals every Monday, and it typically reaches by Thursday, though you may receive is earlier, depending on your location.
At the time of subscribing, you pay for the first delivery and the subsequent deliveries you will have to pay on the Friday before the day it is shipped (i.e., Monday). You have the option of either skipping delivery for a particular week or pausing the subscription for a while.
For this, you will have to get in touch with Pet Plate at [email protected] before 11 pm ET on Thursdays. If you need an emergency delivery due to some unforeseen circumstances, check with Pet Plate, they may be able to work it out for you.
A few things to keep in mind.
- You can store the containers for one week in the fridge and about a year in the freezer. Transfer containers from the freezer to the refrigerator at least a day or two before you plan to serve your pet to thaw it out, and before serving, you can heat it in the microwave if you want. For example, if you receive four containers, keep one or at most, two in the fridge and two in the freezer.
- The amount of food in each box is good for about eight full meals for small dogs (6-10 lbs as an adult), four full meals for medium dogs (21-40 pounds as an adult), two full meals for large dogs (71-90 pounds as an adult) and one full meal for an extra-large dog (121-140 pounds as an adult).
- Pet Plate has three different container sizes — 20 ounces, 24 ounces, and 32 ounces. The one sent to you will depend on your ‘spet’s dietary needs and other details that you provide while signing up.
Plans and Pricing
The price of your subscription depends on the dog’s weight, breed, and dietary needs. On average, Pet Plate says that the cost per meal will be $2.50-4.75 for small dogs, $6-8 for medium dogs, $9-13 for large dogs, and $16-19 for extra large dogs.
In some cases, small dog subscription meal kits can cost more because they need three small meals in a day instead of the two large meals a larger dog will need.
Topper Plan
This plan is for those who want to be flexible in what they feed their pets. You will receive four customized containers of food, and you have the option of deciding the frequency of delivery, starting from every week to every eight weeks.
They have four types of meals on their menu, so you can also choose if all four containers have the same meal or if you want to mix it up.
Full Plan
With the Full Plan, you will receive 28 meals in 14 containers that are meant to serve two full meals per day for two weeks. At the end of two weeks, you will receive the next delivery and so no.
