How Does ShopTracker Work?

This one is as easy as it seems. All you have to do is install the app, and then log into your Amazon account as usual.

The site then tracks your purchases. Once a month, you’ll be asked to complete a survey. You get paid for these surveys, and they don’t take long.

And that’s all there is to it.

You must be 18 or over and have a smartphone. The app is available to Android, iOS, and Windows users.

Here’s how to sign up:

Sign Up For an Account

All you’ll need is to go through and download the app. There’s not a lot of information that you’ll need to enter. You’ll need to input your name, date of birth, and sex. You’ll get credited with $3 for doing that.

Input Your Email Address

The second page on the signup screen will ask you to input your email address. From there, you’ll need to answer a few survey questions. This won’t take long at all.

Install the App

Most users use the app on their smartphone. If you prefer, you can install it on your desktop and laptop. The one requirement is that you have Windows 7 at the least.

Now Sign into Your Amazon Account

Now all that’s left is to sign into your Amazon account. This step will complete the application process.

Complete the Surveys Once a Month

To get paid, you’ll need to complete the monthly survey. Once you have, you’ll be credited with $3.

Is Shop Tracker Legit?

Yes, it is a legit site. The app gathers information about your activity on Amazon. It doesn’t record things like your payment details. It does record what you buy and what you search for. The rest of the information they need they can get from your account application.

So, they’ll receive information like your age, sex, and general geographical location. The company, however, will not receive more detailed information like your address, name, or contact details.

The information, in turn, is sold by the company as marketing information. The information is used by these businesses to understand the needs of their market better. ShopTracker makes its money by compiling reports for business clients.

Now, the idea of having someone tracking your shopping habits online might not appeal to you. And, to be fair, privacy concerns are usually well-founded. In this case, though, the company that’s tracking your information is well-established and reputable.

Besides, companies like Amazon and Google track your online activity all the time. This way, at least you can earn some money from it.

How Do I Get Paid?

Once you’ve completed your necessary details, you get credited with $3. That’s a once-off credit. After that, when you complete the survey every month, you get another $3. In a typical year, you can expect to be paid $36.

Now, granted, that’s not a lot of money. That said, you’re not doing a lot of work to earn it. In some of these online programs, you’re expected to comment, like, or share posts. You get paid peanuts for doing a lot of work.

That’s not the case here. Once you’ve done the basic install, and completed the monthly survey, your “work” is done and you will be on your way to making your first $50 pretty quickly.

The company does not send cash, though. They send you a Visa digital code. You use this code to pay for purchases at any company that accepts them. What most people do is to use them to help fund their purchases on Amazon.

We would have preferred them to make payouts via PayPal. The Visa digital code system is a little clunky. That’s not a deal-breaker, though. You are getting rewarded for going about your business as usual.

Company History

Harris Poll Online created ShopTracker. Harris is one of the most respected survey sites on the web. The company has been in business for over 45 years and has earned an A- rating with the Better Business Bureau.

It’s a reputable company with a well-established reputation. You can rest assured that your information is in safe hands.

Yes, you are logging into your Amazon account, but the company is not accessing your profile information there. They work on the information that you provide them regarding your age, sex, and so on.

Alternatives

While ShopTracker is a slam dunk for ease of use, you may want to earn more or prefer to not be tracked. These alternatives give you options to earn more and do more traditional paid surveys.

  • NCP Online – Similar to ShopTracker in that you track your shopping, however, National Consumer Panel has you scan the barcodes from your purchases instead of tracking you with an app.
  • LifePoints – A merger of two long standing paid survey sites, Life Points offers one of the better platforms for earning.
  • PaidSurveys.com –  Not really a paid survey provider, PaidSurveys points you to other survey sites from which you can sign up.

Pros

  • You’re not going to have to do much extra to earn the money
  • The service is free
  • Setting up is simple
  • You’re not giving out all your personal information
  • You are going to carry on as usual with Amazon
  • It’s effortless to use
  • They’ve set up a monthly payout schedule
  • If you want to quit at any time, you can
  • Your contact details are never shared with marketers

Cons

  • There are privacy concerns
  • You have to install an app
  • Payment is not in cash

ShopTracker Review Final Thoughts

Overall, this is one of the easiest ways to make money out there.

It’s not going to make you rich, but where else do you sit there and collect what amounts to free money? Privacy is a concern, but when you consider that Amazon is already tracking all your purchases, it’s not a huge deal.
